From brain injury to mental health, our expert witnesses cover a broad range of disciplines – here’s how we match the right expert to every case.

At Tessa Gough Associates, we provide trusted expert witness reports across a wide range of clinical disciplines. Whether you’re preparing for a personal injury, clinical negligence or industrial disease claim, we make it straightforward to access the insight, clarity and professionalism you need.

Every expert in our network is a registered nurse or occupational therapist with deep experience in their specialisms. We hand-select each expert, and they all complete our in-house training programme to ensure every report meets the highest professional standards - clear, defensible and tailored to your case.

Our Core Services

We offer a range of reports to support your case, including:

  • Challenges to daily living and independence
  • Recommendations for aids, equipment, adaptations and services
  • Referenced care, equipment and service costs

Liability Reports

We offer both short form screening reports and full court-compliant liability reports. These reports provide:

  • A clear analysis of potential breaches of duty
  • Full review and analysis of medical records
  • Expert commentary applying NICE guidelines, legal tests and clinical knowledge

Reports for Coroners

In cases involving death, we provide expert reports for coroners, including:

  • Analysis of systems and standards of care
  • Identification of material contributions to a death

Loss of Service Reports

When an injury or illness prevents someone from contributing to home life, our loss of service reports assess:

  • The extent of domestic, social and childcare dependency
  • Recommendations for replacement services
  • Provision of alternative care arrangements
  • The broader impact on the household

Initial Needs Assessment

Ideal for early-stage case planning, our initial needs assessments provide:

  • A review of immediate medical and personal circumstances

Who You Can Instruct

Our expert witness team includes:

Occupational Therapists

Our occupational therapists support individuals in regaining or maintaining the ability to carry out everyday tasks. Their goal is to promote independence, improve quality of life, and enable meaningful daily activity.

They are experts in functional ability, home adaptations, care and rehabilitation planning - with experience across hospital, community, NHS and private settings.

Registered General Nurses (RGNs)

Our RGNs bring a wide range of experience from across different healthcare settings and multi-disciplinary teams.

They are experts in care needs, nursing standards, clinical practice and liability assessment - they include prescribing nurses and specialists in various areas of practice.

Mental Health Nurses

Our mental health nurses provide care and support to individuals experiencing conditions such as PTSD, depression, anxiety and other complex mental health needs.

Many of our mental health expert witnesses also specialise in learning disabilities like ADHD and ADD, and have experience in complex cases involving vulnerable individuals, sex workers, sex offenders and asylum seekers.

They are highly knowledgeable about the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.

Making it easy to instruct an expert
